A Warm Welcome

Hello and welcome to our Blog. We would like to share our history about our hearing loss. We both were born with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and it wasn't till we were 4 and 5 years old that we were diagnosed and fitted with bilateral body aids. We both were mainstreamed and learned to speak with many years of speech therapy. Living in the hearing world was not easy but our family and friends went out of their way to show their support to us. We are very blessed to be part of their lives. Steve was just finishing up his Junior year in college and I had just graduated from college when we were fitted with the strongest behind-the-ear hearing aids. Our (former) ENT specialist, Dr. Hough, was the one who told us about Cochlear Implants (CI) years ago but we thought we were doing just fine with our hearing aids. We did a lot of research and spoke with others who already had their CI and listened to their story. We also attended workshops and learned more about what CI can do. The rest is history and we decided to get our CI in June of 2003. Six weeks later, we were hookup and it has changed our lives forever. We are very grateful for our CI and have no regrets at all.
